A strong performance from the Northern Knights wasn’t enough to get their first win of the NAB League Girls season against the Western Jets on Saturday.

Facing the Western Jets, who were also without a win, it was a battle between two young sides.

The Jets held a two point lead at the first break, before kicking four goals in the second quarter to break the game open.

The Knights were able to reduce the margin in the third quarter kicking the only goal of the term.

Despite kicking the only goal of the last quarter and keeping the Jets goal less in the second half, it wasn’t enough to get the four points.

The Jets won 5.8 (38)-3.5 (23).

It was all single goalkickers for the Knights with Georgia Tait, Amber Sciacca and Megan Barnes hitting the scoreboard.

Ava Jordan was one of the standouts with 26 possessions, her third 20-plus possession game in as many rounds.

Rylie Wilcox was another standout with 25 possessions.

The Knights this week face the Eastern Ranges on Saturday at Parade College.

The Calder Cannons had a bye on the weekend.

This week the Cannons travel to Churchill to play Gippsland Power.
