Kangaroos lose under lights

The Greenvale Kangaroos started the new year off with a loss in the Victorian Premier Cricket competition on Saturday.

The Kangaroos faced Prahran in a day-night one-dayer, hoping to get their second win of the season.

Greenvale won the toss and decided to bat.

Skipper Justin Galeotti continued his good form at the top of the order, but the others struggled around him.

Just three players reached double figures as the Kangaroos finished their 50 overs at 8-165.

Galeotti top scored with 59, while Bernard Kelly also scored a half century.

Prahran had little trouble and was cruising to an easy win when the game was called off early.

Prahran was 3-160 at the time, but was awarded the win on Duckworth-Lewis-Stern system.

The Kangaroos, who sit second bottom, face Camberwell in their next game in a two-dayer starting on Saturday.

Women’s premier cricket returns this Saturday.

Plenty Valley faces Ringwood in the premier firsts competition, while the Kangaroos face Dandenong in the seconds competition.
