It was a tough weekend for Greenvale Kangaroos as they fell short in both their Victorian Premier Cricket one-day clashes.
After encouraging signs in round one, the Kangaroos were hoping for a winning weekend.
On Saturday, they won the toss and elected to send Ringwood.
It was a hard day in the field for the Kangaroos.
Led by captain Ian Holland, Ringwood smashed the ball to all parts of the ground as it went at better than a run a ball to finish its overs on 4-304.
Holland made 140 off 130 balls.
Sunam Gautam took 2-33 to be the pick of the bowlers for Greenvale.
The Kangaroos, needing to get off to a quick start with the bat, got to 60 without loss.
They then lost 4-25 to put them back behind the eight ball.
The Kangaroos managed to make a more than competitive 8-198, but it was still well short of Ringwood’s total.
Skipper Matthew Love top scored at the top of the order with 95.
The Kangaroos backed up on Sunday against Essendon at Windy Hill.
The Kangaroos got off to a bad start with the bat, with Love out for a duck.
Most of the top and middle orders got contributions to get the Kangaroos back on track.
They posted 8-191 off their overs.
Gautam’s good form with the bat continued, making 48, while Anthony Barton made 42 at the top of the order.
The Bombers lost an early wicket, but never looked in trouble as they made the runs with ease.
They finished on 3-192 and earned a bonus point, having made the runs with nearly 12 overs to spare.
