Five players from the each of the two grand finalists have been named in the Northern Football League division 3 team of the year.
The league announced the team on Tuesday, following the conclusion of the season which resulted in South Morang finally breaking through for the premiership it’s been so close to in recent years.
Lions’ Mitchell Kalpakis, Matthew Trim, Aaron Lazaric, Bailey Brown and Ben Peterson were recognised for their seasons. Kalpakis and Trim were also named in last year’s team.
Five Laurimar players have been recognised after helping their side through to its first grand final.
Nathan Andrews and Jake Richards were named in the backline, while Jacson Cecil was named at full forward. Luke Wilson and Kaiden Arthur were also named in the team.
Mernda’s Edward Mills and Ryan Bongetti were also named in the team.
Kilmore had four representatives in the team, with Chris Ryall making his third consecutive appearance in the final side, while Heidelberg West also have four members in the 22,
Old Eltham Collegians and Reservoir each had one member selected, with no players selected from Lalor.
