The FFA Cup dreams of Whittlesea United, Hume City and Whittlesea Ranges are over.

The three teams were knocked out in the sixth round of the Victorian stage of the competition on Tuesday night.

Whittlesea United ‘s dream run ended at the hands of Port Melbourne Sharks.

The lowest ranked team left in the competition, United’s task was always going to be a difficult one against the Sharks.

The Sharks opened the scoring in the dying minutes of the first half to lead 1-0 at half time.

United held strong for most of the second half, before the Sharks scored a second goal in the dying minutes, to seal the 2-0 win.

For Hume City, it’s the first time since 2014 that the club hasn’t made it through to the national stage of the competition.

Having been part of several thrilling results the last few years, it took an extra time goal by Richmond to knock them out of this year’s cup.

Hume scored first through debutant Umut Bozdugan in the 19th minute to take an early lead.

Richmond had some chances, but it wasn’t until the second half they could find the equaliser.

Hume goalkeeper Michael Weier continued to make some great saves as Richmond continued to attack.

Neither team could find the winner, with the match heading to extra time.

Richmond midfielder Erlantz Pinedo Lopez lined it up from distance and hit the top corner to give Richmond the lead for the first time for the game.

Hume had one real good chance after that, but a Nick Hegarty shot was saved, meaning Richmond win 2-1.

Ranges’ cup campaign ended at the hands of the fellow National Premier League 2 west side Altona Magic.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the first half.

Magic broke the deadlock in the 59th minute through Marino Gasparis.

It would be the only goal of the game, giving Magic the 1-0 win.
