Roxburgh Park coach Michael Farrelly has put pen to paper to stay at the club, keen to help the Essendon District Football League club continue to develop.
Farrelly, who led the side to the division 2 premiership last season, has signed on at the Magpies for another two seasons.
Farrelly said he always wanted to stay at the Magpies, but it was about making sure everyone was on the right page.
“It’s pretty exciting,” he said.
“I always wanted to be here, it was about ticking a few boxes off field, so we can move forward on and off field.
“We have a bit of plan in place. We don’t want to plateau.”
The Magpies, who look set to stay in division 1 next season, have won three games so far this year.
They currently sit second bottom, but are two wins clear of Oak Park in the relegation battle.
Farrelly said they don’t want to be a team that just makes up the numbers.
“We knew the first 12 to 24 months would be tough,” he said.
“We want to keep striving to get better and grow as a place in every aspect.
“We want everything to be ticked off and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t move forward as a club.”
One area the Magpies will look at, is adding some more talent to the list.
The Magpies were one of the quieter teams on the recruiting front in division 1 this year.
Farrelly said they need to add some players to help take their game to the next level.
“We need to be competitive,” he said.
“We have a good vibe around the club and no one is whinging because we are losing.
“It’s a positive place to be around.
“It’s about getting some raw talent in and it will boost the mood around the club even more.”
With a few wins on the board, Farrelly said they were hopeful it would attract some new players to the club.
With not playing finals this year, he said they would start looking at potential recruits soon.
“We’ll need to put our thinking caps on.”
While there is a focus on the future, Farrelly and the Magpies are focused on finishing the season on a high.
Roxburgh Park has three games and a bye remaining.
Farrelly said he is planning to use the last few games to give some of the younger guys a go, who haven’t got much opportunity during the season.
