Emerging Socceroos Championships to be held in Bundoora

Australia’s best young footballing talent will return to Victoria this July as the 2025 Emerging Socceroos Championships take place at the Home of the Matildas in Bundoora.

The tournament – formally known as the National Youth Championships – will take place over six days from 6-11 July, showcasing the top under-15 and under -16 male footballers from across the country.

The championships are a key event in the Australian soccer calendar, featuring teams from Football Australia’s nine state and territory member federations competing for the national title and showcasing their skills to national team technical staff.

As part of Football Australia’s talent identification pathway, the championships play an important role in player development, with many current Socceroos beginning their journey at this tournament.

Players like Jordan Bos, Nathan Burns, Brett Emerton, Rhyan Grant, Harry Kewell, Joel King, Hayden Mathews, Lucas Neill, Josh Nisbet, Kye Rowles and Luke Wilkshire have all progressed through the Emerging Socceroos Championships pathway.

The annual event not only provides an opportunity for aspiring young players to showcase their skills, but also coaches, officials and technical staff a chance to learn and grow in their respective fields.

Football Australia chief executive James Johnson said they are thrilled to be returning to the Home of the Matildas in Melbourne.

“After successfully hosting the 2024 Girls’ tournament, we are delighted to once again experience these state of the art facilities in the Victorian capital, where the country’s brightest young talent will be looking to impress for future national team honours,’ he said.

“We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the Victorian Government and their tourism and events agency, Visit Victoria, for their ongoing support of Australian football and our elite pathways, as we come together this July to celebrate the next generation of national team players at the 2025 Emerging Socceroos Championships.”
