DVCA teams dominate Northern Region T20

A Diamond Valley Cricket Association team will be crowned the Northern Region T20 champion, with the last of the North Metro Cricket Association teams knocked out of the competition on Tuesday night.

Thirteen DVCA teams made it through to the final 16, compared to just three NMCA teams, and it was the former which came out on top. Riverside easily accounted for Heidelberg West which managed just 8-62. Banyule upset Plenty by just one run. Banyule made 8-113 off its overs, with Plenty finishing 6-112.

Epping continued its good T20 form, beating Rosanna. Epping chased down Rosanna’s 4-111, with nearly four overs and eight wickets in hand.

Lalor Stars had no trouble accounting for Bundoora Park, while Hurstbridge had an easy win against Preston Baseballers and Diamond Creek defeated Macleod. Hurstbridge is the only third division team left in the competition.

Bundoora United did it with ease against Greensborough, after restricting them to just 9-65.

Old Paradians’ liking for the T20 game continued as it defeated Mernda. Mernda made 8-130, which Old Paradians reached with 11 balls remaining.

The semi finals will be held on January 30, when Epping hosts Diamond Creek, Old Paradians play Riverside, Lalor Stars and Hurstbridge do battle, while Bundoora United faces Banyule.
