A draw point for Hume City

Hume City’s winning start to the National Premier League soccer season has come to an end with a draw against Altona Magic.

The two sides entered Saturday night’s match at different ends of the table, Hume after two straight wins and the Magic with no points.

For a third straight match, Hume jumped out of the blocks and scored an early goal, this time through James Brown.

Both sides had their chances before the Magic responded in the 30th minute through Michiel Hemmen.

The Magic missed chance to hit the front not long afterwards, before Ersin Kaya put Hume back in front, scoring in the 37th minute after lobbing the ball over the Magic keeper.

The Magic equalised again in the 72nd minute through Dusan Bosnjak.

Neither sides could force a result, the match finishing in a 2-2 draw.

Hume is third on seven points after three rounds.

This Saturday it will host Heidelberg United at ABD Stadium.

Meanwhile, Whittlesea Ranges got their first points of the NPL 2 west season with a  draw against Geelong.

After a tough couple of weeks, the Ranges were in better form on Saturday.

The Ranges opened the scoring in the 17th minute through George Slefendorfas.

Paul Bogdan Nicolescu leveled the scores just after half-time.

Jose Ramires scored his first goal of the season to give the Ranges back the lead.

The Ranges couldn’t hold on to the lead, with Bogdan Nicolescu scoring his second to level the scores again.

Neither team could get a winner, with the game finishing 2-2.

The Ranges will this week face Werribee City.
