Season is over for Westmeadows, while Tullamarine will have to make the most of its second chance in the Essendon District Football League division 1.

Both the Demons and Tigers had tough days on Sunday in their respective semi finals against Airport West and West Coburg.

The Demons faced the task of trying to upset Airport West to win its way into the grand final. The Eagles had lost just one game for the year and beaten the Demons twice during the season.

It was the Demons who led at quarter time by eight points, before the Eagles hit the front with eight goals in the second quarter.

The lead was extended to 38 points at the last break. There would be no last quarter comeback from the Demons.

It was the opposite as the Eagles piled on the goals, while keeping the Demons goal less in the final quarter.

The Eagles won, 21.14 (140)-7.9 (51).

Anthony Prestia kicked three goals for the Demons, the only player to kick multiple goals for his side.

Phillip Smith, Daniel Devine and Prestia were the Demons best.

While the Eagles are through to the grand final and have the week off, the Demons have a preliminary final date with West Coburg.

The Burgers produced one of their best performances of the season to dismantle Westmeadows finals hopes.

After leading by 20 points at quarter time, the Burgers were able to maintain that lead at half time.

Seven goals in the third quarter blew the game open for the Burgers, as they led by 58 points at the last break.

While the Tigers are a good finishing side, this was even past them.

The Burgers finished off the match winning the last quarter to win, 18.14 (122)-8.9 (57).

The preliminary final will be held at Highgate Reserve on Sunday.

In division 2, the incredible turnaround for Keilor Park has continued as it became the first side through to the grand final.

Devils coach Paul Guicas was a very relieved and happy man after the 12.10 (82)-8.8 (56) win against Oak Park.

The Devils didn’t field a senior side in 2018. The club is looking for its first senior premiership since 2001.

The Kangaroos will face Coburg Districts in the preliminary final. The Lions beat Burnside Heights in the other semi final.

Oak Park will play Coburg Districts in the preliminary final after the Lions beat 12.11 (83)-10.8 (68).
