Bundoora United, Montmorency play out a tie

Ladder leaders Bundoora United had to settle for a tie with Montmorency in the Diamond Valley Cricket Association Money Shield.

In one of two thrillers involving top four sides, Bundoora United made 9-171 from its overs.

Skipper Joel Thompson top scored 45, as one of two players that passed 20.

It was a two-man show for Montmorency with Mark O’Brien (88 not out) and Jack Taylor doing most of the damage.

Despite losing three late wickets, Montmorency managed to level the scores, finishing 7-171.

The Bulldogs remain on top of the ladder despite the tie.

Rosebank won a thriller against fellow top four side Bundoora.

Rosebank made 9-159 from its overs, with Dushan Wickramarathna doing most of the damage with 88.

Shupinder Taggar took 3-12 off his eight overs for the Bulls.

The Bulls quickly found themselves in trouble at 5-63. While the lower order were able to fight back, it wasn’t quite enough.

The Bulls were bowled out for 155. Nicholas Caracella top scored with 36.

Bundoora Park had a big win against Lalor Stars.

The Stars were bowled out for 89, with Bundoora Park finishing 3-92 in reply.

Bottom side Old Paradians got its second win of the season, beating Eltham.

Old Paradians made 7-200 from its 45 overs with overs with Udara Ranasingha making 56.

Eltham was bowled out for 125 in reply.

Sajith Malalgodapitiya took three wickets for the Old Paradians.

Plenty beat Mernda in the other match.

Plenty made 8-177, before restricting Mernda to 118.

In the Barclay Shield, Heidelberg won a tight one against Epping in a top four clash.

Heidelberg was restricted to 7-142 from its overs.

Daniel Bramich and John Kulikowski took two wickets each for the Pingers.

Kulikowski got 46 at the top of the order for the Pingers, but no one could get going after that as they were bowled out for 132.

The result means Heidelberg moves up to second, while the Pingers slip to fourth.
