Bundoora has returned to the winners list in Northern Football League division 1, after a rare lean period.
Last year premiers entered Saturday’s match with Whittlesea with just two wins for the season, and only sitting above the Eagles on the ladder.
With the Eagles somewhat a bogey side for the Bulls, Saturday’s match was always going to be a tough one.
The Bulls though showed some of what had been lacking in previous rounds and had no troubles accounting for the Eagles.
The Bulls won every quarter on the way to a 24.18 (162)-14.5 (89) win.
Bulls playing coach Ricky Dyson said it was definitely a good feeling to get back on the winners list.
“It’s taken too long to back on there,” he said.
“We’ll definitely take it. It was good game against a side that we’ve struggled to get over the last few years.
“It’s never easy to beat Whittlesea at Whittlesea.”
The Bulls produced their best scoring performance of the season, passing 100 for just the second time for the year.
Dyson said they had been struggling to kick a winning score all season.
He said the most pleasing thing was the spread of goal kickers.
Fourteen players hit the scoreboard on Saturday, with veteran Gary Moorcroft leading the way with four goals.
Dyson, Todd Hughes and Josh Grabowski all kicked three goals.
Grabowski was named the Bulls best.
For the Eagles, Chris Horman was named their best.
Dyson said they were hopeful that the win would start momentum and kick start their season.
The win moved the Bulls one spot up the ladder.
“We have put ourselves in that position,” he said.
“We are a fair bit behind the top five or six teams at the moment. We need to get that momentum going.
“We need to just worry about what we can control. We need to train hard and put in four quarter performances.”
