Bundoora battle underway

Bundoora is solidly placed after day one of its clash with Bundoora United in the second round of the Diamond Valley Cricket Association Barclay Shield.

The Bulls, who played in last season’s grand final, decided to bat in sunny conditions at Yulong Reserve.

After losing an early wicket, the Bulls led by Rubal Singh Dhillon, set about pushing the score past 200.

They finished their 80 overs, 9-260. Singh Dhillon finished with 126 off 187 balls.

Captain Jason Kaminski provided a handy 21 not out at the end of the innings.

The Bulldogs rotated their bowlers around with eight players rolling the arm over. Flynn Davis and Riley Gaylard took two wickets each.

Meanwhile, Epping will have to bat well if it’s to make it two in row.

On Saturday, the Pingers decided to bowl first against Rosanna.

Rosana got off to a strong start before a couple of hiccups in the middle order.

It was bowled out for 257 with two balls remaining.

Ethan Kunelius took three wickets for the Pingers.

In the Money Shield, Mernda and Lalor Stars have work to do.

The Demons were bowled out for 186 in the 74th over against Banyule. Gareth Sharp top scored with 48.

Banyule will resume at 0-10.

Lalor Stars will be hoping for some early partnerships on day two of their clash with Research Eltham Collegians.

The Collegians were bowled out for 215 in the 66th over.

Jamie Scott took 7-36 for the Stars.

The Stars will resume at 3-51.
