Big win for Bundoora RSL

Bundoora RSL had little trouble accounting for Deer Park in Bowls Victoria pennant premier division on Saturday.

Despite the wet conditions, all matches in the top grade went ahead, with Bundoora continuing to do what they have all season.

Facing third place Deer Park, Bundoora came away with the win 83 (16)-69 (2).

Josh Corless’ rink won 19-15, Luke Aiello’s rink won a close one 21-19 and Dean O’Neill came away with the win 24-15.

Bundoora fell just short of a clean sweep, with Nathan Murray’s rink losing 20-19.

Bundoora extended its lead at the top of the table by one shot and is now 31 points clear of Altona with three rounds remaining.

A win this week could seal top spot with two rounds remaining.

In division 1, section 1, it was one way traffic for Whittlesea against Lalor.

Whittlesea claimed all four rinks in the massive 103 (18)-47 (0) win.

Nick McIntyre’s rink won 20-13 over Jarrod Nancarrow, Lucas Eddington’s rink smashed Gavin Niclasen’s rink 37-6, Guy Spiden’s rink won 21-17 against Steven Velicki, and Benjamin Winther’s rink won 25-11 against Wally Hutson.

Whittlesea, which is looking to go straight back up to premier division, sits 27 points clear on top.

Lalor sits second bottom.

On Saturday, Bundoora beat Fitzroy Victoria, 92 (14)-72 (4).

Bundoora is set to finish fourth.

In division 2, section 2, Craigieburn continues to be the pacesetter.

On Saturday, it sealed top spot with three rounds remaining, with victory against West Coburg.

Craigieburn winning 86 (14)-60 (4).

In section 3, fourth placed Bundoora RSL lost to Hurstbridge, 91 (16)-65 (2), while bottom side Epping RSL lost to Donvale in a thriller,  74 (12)-73 (6).
