Big V

Hume City Broncos’ imports Chris Elder and Briana Gray have been nominated for the Big V most valuable player awards. The pair have also been nominated for the all star five in the championship divisions. Anthony Dell’Orso has been nominated for the youth player of the year as has Harmony Harder. In division 1, Craigieburn Eagles Carley Cranston is nominated for the youth player of the year. Cranston has already won the youth league one women’s most valuable player.

Northern FL

Bundoora will enter finals on the back of a tight win against North Heidelberg in the Northern Football League division 1. The Bulls jumped out of the blocks before the Bulldogs slowly pegged them back with the margin just three points at the last break. Four goals to two in the final quarter, sealed the 15.8 (98)-13.14 (92). The Bulls finished the regular season in second. They will face Montmorency in a qualifying final in the first week of finals.

EDFL

Greenvale nearly pulled off a come from behind win against Avondale Heights in the Essendon District Football League premier division. Neither side had anything to play for with finals already out of the equation, with Avondale Heights dominating the first half. The Jets kicked 10 second half goals, but fell just short, losing 12.15 (87)-11.13 (79). Fort Caruso kicked three goals in the loss for the Jets. The Jets finish the season in seventh.

EDFL

Keilor made it back-to-back premierships in the Essendon District Football League women’s premier division competition. The Blues controlled the grand final against Aberfeldie from start to finish to get their third premiership in six years, winning 5.4 (34)-0.2 (2). Sabine Navarro was named best on ground.
