Greenvale upset Maribyrnong Park in the Essendon District Football League premier division competition on Saturday. The Jets trailed throughout the first half before leading by 10 points at the last break. They were able to extend that lead in the last quarter to win, 18.7 (115)-15.11 (101). Jacob Thompson kicked five goals in the win. In division 1, Westmeadows beat Craigieburn, while Tullamarine was too good for Roxburgh Park. Westmeadows’ win is enough to secure it a finals spot.

FV

Upfield is back on top in the FV state league 2 north-west after a 2-1 win against Westgate in the catch up round. Upfield dropped from first to fourth after losing six points for playing an ineligible player. Upfield responded with a win to sit one point ahead of Mill Park and Altona East Phoenix with two rounds remaining. Epping City’s catch up match with Moreland United didn’t go ahead.

Northern FL

South Morang came out on top in the top of the table clash with Laurimar in the Northern Football League division 3. With top spot up for grabs, it was the Lions who were able to do enough, winning 12.13 (85)-10.4 (64). Liam Jolly and Benjamin Peterson kicked three goals each for the Lions. The Lions now sit a game clear on top with one round remaining. In other results, Mernda lost to Heidelberg West and Lalor lost to Reservoir.

NAB League

The Calder Cannons got their fourth win of the NAB League Boys season, beating the Murray Bushrangers on Saturday. It was a close game all day with the Cannons trailing by one point at three quarter time. Three goals to two in the final quarter turned that into a 10.10 (70)-9.6 (60) win. Carlos Egan kicked three goals for the Cannons. Meanwhile, the Northern Knights lost to Tasmania, 12.17 (89)-8.7 (55).
