Whittlesea Ranges remain undefeated in the FV state league 1 north-west after getting their first win on Saturday. Facing Strathmore, the Ranges took control early with three goals in the first 21 minutes. Strathmore hit back with two second half goals, but the Ranges held on to win 3-2. Upfield had a 0-0 draw with Yarraville Glory on Friday night, while Whittlesea United split the points with Westgate after a 2-2 draw.

NPL

Hume City had a tough night against the Oakleigh Cannons in the National Premier League on Saturday night. Aiming for its second win of the season, Hume found itself trailing in the first half 1-0. The Cannons increased their lead through Alex Fiechtner to 2-0, before Hume scored one late. Hume couldn’t find a second, losing 2-1. After six rounds, Hume has one win and three draws.

Big V

It was a tough night for the Craigieburn Eagles in the Big V men’s division 2 competition on Saturday night. Facing the Mildura Heat, the Eagles were in trouble, down by 10 points at quarter time and 24 points at the main break. The margin blew out to 34 points at the last break, before the Eagles were able to show some fight in the final team. The Heat won, 98-76.

Tullamarine’s premiership winning captains will again lead in the Demons in the Essendon District Football League women’s competition. Tricia Devine and Taylah Hardman will lead the side which has been promoted to division 1 this season on the back of a division 2 premiership. Skyla Cain has been named vice-captain. The club had previously announced its men’s leadership group with Daniel Devine to captain the men’s team.
