Around the grounds in Hume and Whittlesea

FV

Mill Park has re-signed Kevin Theuma as its coach for next year’s FV state league 2 north-west season. Theuma, who has held the role since last 2019, took the side to the edge of promotion in the recently finished season. The side finished in third spot, one point behind second-placed Westgate, which will be promoted. In the club’s social media post, it said the club was looking forward to what Theuma can produce with the side next year.

Northern FL

Lalor has locked in some key pieces ahead of next year’s Northern Football League division 3 season. After a tough 2022, with the Bloods not winning a game, there are already good signs for the future. The Bloods have announced the new signings of Moussa Ali, Jacob Houston and Falcon Taurus, along with a couple of player re-signings. Coach Angelo Lamanna has also signed on for next season.

NPL

Hume City has been busy signing some of its key personnel for next year’s National Premier League season. After narrowly avoiding relegation, the Hume under new coach Ersan Gulum has started to lock in the pieces for next year. Mitch Cooper, Rory Brian, Josh Bingham, Lachlan Weier, Hayden Tennant and Harry Monaghan have all re-signed.

Basketball

Craigieburn’s Ezi Magbegor will be on court with the best basketballers at the FIBA World Cup in Sydney. The centre will play a key role for Australia in its campaign that starts on Thursday against France. Magbegor enters the tournament in good form, having starred in the recent WNBL season for the Seattle Storm. The Opals are hoping to go one better than in 2018 when they lost to America, which won its 10th title.
