Coates Talent League

Three Calder Cannons players have been named in the Coates Talent League team of the year. Jordan Croft was named centre half forward of the boys team of the year, while Chloe Baker-West was named on a wing and Kayley Kavanagh in the middle for the girls team of the year. Cannons’ Jade McLay finished third in the girls best and fairest, finishing on 14 votes, seven behind winner Sara Howley.

Craigieburn has announced its senior women’s and men’s coaches for the upcoming season. Tobi Swinley has been awarded the women’s job. “He has assistant coached two teams to a gold and a bronze medal at a national level for VU University. Tobi joined the Eagles Big V women’s program early last season as a lead assistant coach and his impact was immediately felt,” the club said via social media. For the men’s side Tim Annett will be the man to lead them forward. “Having coached in the league for the last few seasons, I’m really excited for the opportunity to join Craigieburn. I am looking forward to building on top of the existing strong core of players and the Eagles culture and then in turn lead the program back to success,” the club said on social media.

The Essendon District Football League’s team of the year has been released with Greenvale’s Nicholas Maric as the lone representative for his side. Maric was named as one of the Jets’ best 11 times this season and booted seven majors.
