DVCA: Plenty’s Steven Villani hits ton against Bundoora United

A century to Steven Villani put Plenty in a good position against Bundoora United in the Diamond Valley Cricket Association’s Barclay Shield on Saturday.

Villani made almost half his team’s score, with 102 out of 223 on day one of the clash.

Umar Razaq was best of the bowlers with 6-75.

Old Paradians/St Francis has a fight on its hands against Macleod.

After bowling out Macleod for 250, Old Paradians/St Francis was in trouble at 4-39 at stumps.

Epping is chasing Diamond Creek’s 7-251, John Kulikowski and John Lever taking two wickets each for Epping.

Bundoora needs 261 for victory over Lower Eltham after Hussain Hanif got five wickets for Bundoora.

In the Money Shield, Mernda’s Jarrod Carlson reached triple figures in his side’s 8-310 against Hurstbridge.

Mill Park started well in its chase of Montmorency’s score of 176 and will start the second day on 1-53.

Lalor Stars has Eltham 3-54 at stumps of day one chasing a total of 180.

The DVCA sides also played the second round of the Northern T20 competition on Tuesday night.

Old Paradians/St Francis’s batsmen were on song after a bye in the opening round, making 8-206 against Donath.

Donath never got close, finishing on 9-127.

Rivergum made it two from two against Mernda after easily chasing down 6-123 with seven wickets in hand.

Keon Park opener Steven Nicholson led his side to victory with 62 not out against Epping.

Chasing Epping’s 3-113, Keon Park passed the total with one ball remaining.

Themi Tilkeridis’s 55 not out wasn’t enough for Lalor Warriors to beat North Eltham Wanderers, who won by two runs.

The Wanderers 124 was enough, as Warriors could make only 7-122.

Research/Eltham Collegians had an easy win against Bundoora Park.

Bundoora lost its first match of the competition – all out for 99 chasing Lower Eltham’s 7-139.

Bundoora United had no troubles in its win against Preston Footballers.

After keeping the Footballers’ score to 90, United made the total for the loss of only one wicket.

Other winners include Hurstbridge, Rosanna, Preston Baseballers, Eltham, Macleod, Northern Socials and Preston Druids.

The final round of the group stage is on November 25.
