RDFL: Lancefield picks ex-Tullamarine chief Ash Manning as coach

Lancefield Football Club has appointed former Tullamarine coach Ash Manning as its coach for the 2015 Riddell District Football League season.

Tigers president Tony McKay said Manning was the most credentialed coach who had applied for the job.

The club’s board  still has to ratify the decision to appoint Manning, who will replace Sean Tobias.

“We had a number of applicants who we interviewed and Manning was the most experienced coach by far,” McKay said.

“He took Glenroy to a premiership in the EDFL [Essendon District Football League] previously and last season he took Tullamarine to the grand final.

“His credentials really stick out.”

McKay said the club had spoken to three of Manning’s previous clubs before appointing him.

Manning was originally reappointed at Tullamarine for the 2015 season.

“It was something [why he wasn’t coaching them] that we did discuss,” said McKay.

“Both sides gave the same version of the story with some variance.

“What transpired is that they have parted ways and that’s always part of football.

“He took a club which was average and took them into a grand final.”
