Preliminary Final

Greensborough vs Macleod

Preston City Oval

Sunday, September 14, 2.10pm

Last time: Greensborough 10.18 (78) lt Macleod 13.15 (93)

A very intriguing match-up. Greensborough finished second on the table after the home-and-away season, winning four more games than Macleod. But two of Greensborough’s losses came against the Kangaroos, who have blown the finals series wide open by knocking off last year’s grand finalists in succession. Macleod’s youthfulness has been a key, but they now have the self-belief to go along with it. Greensborough now faces the challenge of trying to keep its season alive against an opponent that has had the better of it in 2014.

WORD FROM THE CLUB

“We have been really positive since the loss to Heidelberg. We know now for us to go through we have to play a side that we haven’t beaten this year which is a challenge for us. We will use that as motivation; here’s a side we haven’t knocked off and if we want to progress any further we have to win. They are young and they move the ball well.” – Greensborough assistant coach Neil Brindley

“We are probably in our best form for the year. I think our last two games have been our best for the season. This game against Greensborough is a genuine toss of the coin I think. We have beaten them during the year but finals is different. We’ve said to the players that they are getting closer to achieving something realy really special.” – Macleod coach Garry Ramsay
