EDFL: Tullamarine opens with thrilling win over Hillside

Tullamarine had a first-up win on Saturday, beating promoted Hillside 12.8 (80) to 11.7 (73) in Division 1.

Hillside, who dominated all-comers in winning Division 2 last season, hosted the season opener and was competitive throughout but struggled to get on the scoreboard in the final term.

After the scores were level at 72-all at three-quarter time, the Sharks managed only one point in the final term. Daniel Mangan was best for Tullamarine with six goals.

In other Division 1 results, Hadfield scored a 60-point win against Craigieburn after taking control with a four-goal opening quarter.

The Hawks’ forward line proved far too strong for Craigieburn with Luke Vincitorio and Hisham Kerbatieh both snaring four goals and Matthew Patane booting three. For Craigieburn, John Bellino was the only multiple goalkicker with three.
