Greenvale is just a handful of points from top spot in the senior division of the Victorian Turf Cricket Association after winning the shortened match against Keilor on Saturday.
Batting first in a game cut from two days to one,
Greenvale successfully defended 146 by bowling out Keilor for 137 in reply. South Caulfield (55.11) leads the division from Greenvale (51.86).
Jeremy Brown (57 and 3-23) enjoyed a day out with bat and ball while Chathura Darshana took 3-9 as best of the Greenvale bowlers.
In North Division, Tullamarine (8-315) removed Royal Park-Brunswick once for 78 but ran out of time going for an outright, with RPB 3-51 in the second innings at stumps.
Division rival Westmeadows comfortably defended 6-310 against Williamstown CYMS (167).
In north B1, Glenroy’s Steve Goodwin was an unstoppable force as his 15 wickets led his team to an outright win against Aberfeldie Park.
Goodwin had 7-34, including a hat-trick in the first innings, and backed up with 8-39 in the second.
Aberfeldie Park trailed by 13 on the first innings and its second dig of 114 set a modest target for Glenroy to chase. The Roys reached 5-105 to move into a logjam at the top of the ladder.
St Andrews Pascoe Vale (47.76) leads the table from Jacana (47.45) with Glenroy third (47.20) and East Coburg fourth (45.43).
