EDFL premier: Greenvale into grand final against Aberfeldie

Greenvale didn’t need long to end Airport West’s challenge and set
up an Essendon District Football League premier division grand final
against Aberfeldie on Saturday.

The preliminary final at Coburg City Oval was a one-sided affair as the Jets won 17.13 (115) to 7.15 (57).

Greenvale’s hopes of back-to-back premierships remains alive,
while Airport West can reflect on a strong return season to premier
division and a third-place finish.

Greenvale got the better of the opening exchanges against the
scoring end at Coburg with three of the first four goals and
consolidated with five goals to one in the second.

The 36-point half-time margin proved too big a gap for Airport
West to overhaul as its forward line failed to fire, booting an
inaccurate 3.13 before three-quarter time.

Joe Gazzo booted four to lead Greenvale’s scoring, while Steven
Brewer bounced back from a tough qualifying final against Aberfeldie by
booting three as one of Greenvale’s best.

Samuel Zumbo and David Sardo combined with ruck Simon Potter to ensure the Greenvale midfield controlled the contest.

Marcus Kenny was Airport West’s only multiple goal-kicker with
three, while Adam Walsh and Daniel Harris were among the better Eagles.

Saturday’s grand final between Aberfeldie and Greenvale starts at Windy
Hill at 2.15pm.
