A CLUTCH three-pointer from Katrina Hibbert put Hume City Broncos
1-0 up in the best-of-three Big V women’s state championship grand final
series against Ringwood Hawks on Saturday night.
Hume City blew an 11-point lead in the final quarter to trail by a
point only to re-take the lead with Hibbert’s hopeful shot that went in
off the backboard.
Ringwood’s Emma Beddome had the chance to tie scores with two
seconds left but scored missed one of two free throws. Hume grabbed the
rebound and ran down the clock to win 57-56.
Sharin Milner scored 19 points for the Lady Broncos while Yinka Olorunnife had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Game two tips off at Maroondah Indoor Sports Centre at 6.15pm on
Saturday while game three, if needed, is at the same venue at 2.15pm on
Sunday.
