UPDATE: A 30-year-old Bundoora man has been charged after a large amount of amphetamine was allegedly located in Melbourne yesterday.
He has been charged with import a marketable quantity of a border controlled drug and has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today (May 2).
EARLIER: Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives discovered about 40 kilograms of what is alleged to be methylamphetamine last night at two locations.
Detective Senior Sergeant Matthew Kershaw said an elderly couple in the Werribee area signed for a parcel that had incorrectly been delivered to their house about 1pm.
The couple discovered bags containing white powder in the parcel and immediately contacted police.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kershaw said the parcel contained about 20 kilograms of methylamphetamine with an estimated street value of $10 million.
A warrant was later executed at Maroondah Terrace in Bundoora where a further 20 kilograms of methylamphetamine was found, also with an estimated street value of $10 million.
A 30-year-old Bundoora man has been arrested and will face Melbourne Magistrates Court today in relation to importing and trafficking drugs.
The investigation remains ongoing.
