In the lead up to the much anticipated FIFA Women’s World Cup the under-11s girls team from the Mill Park Soccer Club went to watch some of their idols wrap up their cup preparations.
On Wednesday, July 20 the Jamaican national team laced up their boots for a training session at the new home of the Matildas in Bundoora.
The Mill Park girls team took out silverware as the first ever girls team to win the Mill Park Cup earlier this year and are now hoping Jamaica can do the same.
“What an amazing experience for the girls,” coach Jimmy Christou said. “We wish them all the best and we will all be cheering for them.”
Christou said watching the Jamaican team was fantastic.
“The Jamaican women’s team was outstanding with them,” he said. “Signing jerseys and balls and having a conversation.
“Such humble ladies.”
Mill Park is hosting trials for next season in early December.
