Woman sees mother die in crash at Attwood

The daughter of one of the women killed in a tragic accident in Attwood on Sunday night has paid tribute to her mum.

Posting on Facebook, the daughter thanked her mum for being “the best mum in the world”.

“Thank you for raising me to become who I am today,” she wrote.

“Thank you for supporting me through life and always helping me stay positive. You have taught me how to love, care and most of all, be happy.

“I can’t believe you are gone, I’m in my own world dreaming of you.”

The women were in a red Toyota sedan that was entering the intersection of Mickleham Road and Alanbrae Terrace about 10pm, when it collided with a black Mercedes that was travelling south on Mickleham Road.

The passenger in the Toyota died at the scene.

The driver died upon arrival at hospital.

The male driver, and sole occupant, of the Mercedes was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

He is under police guard.

The red car’s engine was thrown 70 metres from the car.

Detective Sergeant Mark Amos told ABC he couldn’t “get my head around” the tragedy.

“I don’t know how they are going to cope with seeing that event unfold right before their eyes… it’s something that I am sure will be burnt in their memory,” he said.

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the accident or may have been driving along Mickleham Road at that time.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
