Woman critically injured in ring road crash

A Craigieburn woman is fighting for her life after being thrown from her car in a crash in Thomastown.

The 28-year-old was driving her green Mazda sedan along the Hume Freeway about 2.30am Thursday, when she lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll a number of times.

Police said the woman was found on the Western Ring Road, quite a distance from her car, having suffered life-threatening injuries.

She was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious head injuries.
