There are aspiring actors who never get the chance to perform on the big stage, but for Wollert teen Angelina Nguyen, her dreams are about to become a reality.

The 13-year-old will make her acting debut in the Newsies Jr production presented by Performing Arts Company (PAC).

Angelina said rehearsals were going “amazing” and is “super excited to perform with everyone.”

“It’s really, really fun. And I thought that I wouldn’t be able to learn all my lines in time, but the creative team helped me and I learned the whole show now.”

This will be Angelina’s first ever show that will see her act, dance and sing.

“I was really nervous because I’ve never really sung before or acted,” Angelina said.

The students have been mentored by industry greats Lyndon Watts, Shubshri Kandiah and Rob Mills throughout the rehearsal process.

“It’s amazing, I’ve learned so much, like how I should take care of myself and how to prepare for shows.”

The young dancer will play the role of Les, Davey’s little sister and is “really excited” to perform.

“I love performing because I like to entertain people and I like to see people smile when they see me perform.”

Director Alice Batt said of the hundreds of performers who applied, they were blown away with the talent they saw.

“We know how desperate everyone is to get back on stage after the last few years and so we’re planning to come back with a bang,” Ms Batt said.

“We can’t wait for audiences to see how exceptional our 2022 young cast is.”
