A Whittlesea early childhood program helping children get a better start in life has been recognised as among Victoria’s best early years programs.
The Brotherhood of St Laurence-run Growing Learners program is a finalist in the Victorian Early Years Awards.
The program is nominated in the supporting parents to build their capacity and confidence category.
The targeted, early-intervention program is open to vulnerable and disadvantaged parents of children aged up to three who want to strengthen their relationship with their child.
It is run in partnership with Goodstart Early Learning, Jindi Kindergarten and Extended Care and Whittlesea council.
Yan Yean MP Danielle Green described the program as inspiring.
“Every day families in the northern suburbs benefit not only from the great work being done by the Growing Learners program, but from the tireless dedication of our countless local early childhood services and professionals,” she said.
Winners will be announced later this year and are in line to receive between $10,000-$15,000 to go towards their work.
