Whittlesea Secondary to perform Footloose

Whittlesea Secondary College students are preparing to take the stage and perform the classic 80’s movie, Footloose.

This production captures the nostalgic charm of the classic film, enhanced with a selection of new songs.

Musical director Shaun Geerlings-Parker said lots of work has been put into rehearsing and preparing for the upcoming performances.

“It’s an eight week rehearsal period and the kids are really excited to showcase their talent again in doing Footloose,” he said.

“We have been quite lucky to be one of the top schools across the state in musical theatre.”

This production comes off the school’s 2023 production of Chicago, which picked up three award nominations from the Musical Theatre Guild of Victoria.

Having not been able perform Footloose in 2020 when originally scheduled due to Covid-19, Geerlings-Parker said that the kids are happy that they get to revisit the production so the kids can put their own spin on a classic.

Geerlings-Parker said the audience can expect a high energy production that will result in “a fun night out”.

The production will run from September 6 to September 14 at the Whittlesea Secondary College’s performing arts centre.
