Whittlesea residents are being urged by State Emergency Services (SES) to prepare for flooding and heavy rain forecast.
Whittlesea SES unit controller Gary Doorbar expects that conditions will change this afternoon and tonight as heavier rains are expected and recommends keeping an eye on the VIC emergency website, SES website and Whittlesea council social media pages.
As a result of weather conditions, Masons Road and Summerhill Road in Wollert have closed and Arthurs Creek Road in Yan Yean has been reduced to 60km/h.
Mr Doorbar asks residents to stay vigilant, drive to conditions and to not drive, walk or play in flood waters.
“If you get a chance and it isn’t too late, check your gutters, tie down anything that’s not secure and if you don’t need to drive somewhere, it’s best to stay home,” he said.
Residents who require emergency assistance in storms or floods can contact SES on 132 500. If an emergency is life threatening contact triple-0.
