Community consultation on the Whittlesea Park master plan concept design is now open.

The plan outlines 13 recommendations including new public toilet facilities at the Walnut Street entrance near the skate park and a proposed upgraded playground. New toilets have also been mooted at the Laurel Street end of the park.

The playground near AF Walker Reserve is in line for upgrades, with a focus on improving accessibility, diversity in play and varied equipment for all ages.

An improved picnic area with BBQ facilities and furniture is also planned near the new play space.

Council also plans to upgrade car parking with an additional car park off Beech Street.

Chair of administrators Lydia Wilson said pop-up consultation sessions will take place to better understand how the community would like the park developed.

“I really encourage residents to come along to a session to chat with the team or share your feedback online,” she said.

Consultation will close on Sunday, October 30.
