Whittlesea, Hume SES volunteers respond to severe weather callouts

State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers across Whittlesea and Hume were kept busy overnight as wild weather lashed Victoria.

VICSES responded to over 4000 calls for help across the state, with the Craigieburn, Broadmeadows and Whittlesea units reporting a high number of callouts.

In a Facebook post overnight, Whittlesea SES unit warned that the severe weather was impacting the municipality.

“Local roads [are] beginning to flood,” the post stated.

“Please be careful around Plenty river and never drive through flood water!”

The unit took to Facebook again this morning to advise that volunteers were working through “multiple requests for assistance”, mainly relating to trees that had fallen on roads and buildings.

A severe weather warning remains in place for Victoria today.
