Whittlesea gearing up for cultural diversity week

Get ready to come alive with music, dance and international flavours as Whittlesea celebrates cultural diversity week from March 17 to 23.

This year’s theme, Embrace the journey, Shape our future, highlights the importance of diversity in shaping the community’s identity.

The week’s main course is the cultural diversity week celebration on Wednesday, March 19, from 10am to 1.30 pm at plenty ranges arts and convention center, South Morang.

The free event promises energetic performances, colorful traditional outfits, and delicious global cuisines, alongside opportunities to connect with local services.

Beyond the main event, a range of hands-on activities will give locals the chance to explore different cultures, including a terracotta plate painting workshop at Whittlesea community center on March 20, pop-up choir for Harmony Day at Westfield Plenty Valley food court and a clay beading workshop in Mernda on March 21.

Cultural diversity week also coincides with harmony day on March 21, a national event promoting inclusiveness and belonging.

Whittlesea mayor Aidan McLindon encouraged the community to get involved and share the fun.

“Cultural diversity week is a fantastic opportunity to connect, share stories, and celebrate the many cultures that make our community so special.”
