Doreen RSL will be holding a Remembrance Day ceremony this year.
Doreen RSL president Wes Wridgeway said they have tweaked the ceremony from 2019, because due to the pandemic, “last year we weren’t able to commemorate”.
“We do know that a lot of our veterans and a lot of our members are excited about being able to actually have a proper commemorative service,” he said.
The ceremony will include a speech from a veteran of over 18 years, who has done four operational services.
As the cenotaph is located on the grounds of Laurimar Primary School, the occasion will also have “a lot of school kids involved”.
Those who attend can expect a familiar progression of events including wreath laying, poems, history, an opening address, the last post, the national anthem and a minute of silence.
“All members of our community and surrounding areas are welcome to attend,” Mr Wridgeway said.
“Any members of the public that would like to lay a wreath in remembrance of any of their family members or friends are quite welcome to do so.”
The ceremony will be held at the Doreen RSL cenotaph, corner of Armidale and Painted Hills roads, Doreen, and begins at 10.25am.
