Whittlesea council is on the lookout for volunteers to make a contribution to the community by joining its Delivered Meals and Community Connectors programs.

Volunteers are crucial to the success of many City of Whittlesea projects, programs and events. Most importantly, as a volunteer, you can make a significant contribution to the community, council said.

As a Community Connector volunteer, you will assist council in providing support to socially isolated and lonely older residents. Volunteers will meet on a regular basis and connect participants to programs, activities, groups and events within the municipality.

By becoming a Delivered Meals volunteer you will be delivering nutritious meals to elderly people within the community.

Community Connector volunteers are needed Monday to Friday (although there are some weekends required), between 9am-5pm.

Delivered Meals volunteers are needed Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9am – 12.30pm, in Thomastown. Volunteers must have a driver’s license, comprehensive car insurance and be willing to use your own vehicle, with reimbursements provided.

All volunteers must be willing to undergo a Police Check, Working with Children Check, and have access to a mobile phone.

Training for each volunteer position and ongoing support provided, council said.

To register your interest and become a volunteer at the City of Whittlesea, please contact the volunteer co-ordinator on 8401 6223.
