Police are continuing to investigate an alleged affray at Broadmeadows Railway Station on the afternoon of Wednesday 22 October which left two teenagers in hospital.
Police believe two groups known to each other were involved in an altercation just after 3pm, prompting multiple calls to Triple-0.
When officers arrived, they found two 17-year-old boys suffering from stab wounds. Both were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, with one remaining in care to undergo surgery.
A short time later, police arrested a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy at Glenroy Railway Station about 3.25pm.
The 17-year-old Banyule teen was charged with affray and causing injury and was bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.
The 19-year-old Heidelberg West boy was released without charge pending further inquiries.
Detectives seized a screwdriver from the scene, which is alleged to have been used as a weapon. Witnesses also reported seeing a machete, though it was not recovered.
Additional police have been deployed to Broadmeadows station following the incident.
Detective Sergeant Raynor Gunton said the incident was another event which occurred in broad daylight.
“This is sadly another example where young men have attended a public place in broad daylight armed with knives looking to cause trouble,” he said.
