Two men have been charged as part of a police operation targeting hoon activity.

A 21-year-old Broadmeadows man and a 19-year-old Melton South man were charged after police executed search warrants in Broadmeadows and Melton this morning.

Police said several items were seized during the search, including a Holden Commodore, a Chrysler 300, edged weapons and multiple electronic devices.

The men have been charged with multiple counts of reckless conduct causing serious injury, driving in a dangerous manner, and careless driving.

The Melton South man was also charged with driving while suspended.

Acting senior sergeant Dean Pickering said that as part of Operation Achilles, police would continue to identify and arrest people they believed were engaging in illegal hoon activity.

“Both police and the community are rightly sick of this behaviour and there is zero tolerance for it,” he said.

“This is not minor offending by any means – those charged could face significant penalties including imprisonment.”

The Broadmeadows man was bailed to appear at the Broadmeadows Magistrates Court on April 28, 2022.

The Melton South man was bailed to appear at the Werribee Magistrates Court on May 26, 2022.

Anyone with information about illegal hoon activity is asked to come forward and report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
