Police have arrested two men in Mill Park, caught driving an allegedly stolen vehicle at a speed of 135km/h.
Just before 1am on Friday, April 5, Operation Trinity officers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle along Bowman Drive in Mill Park.
The Toyota RAV4 had false plates, and sped down Dalton Road in Thomastown at speeds of 135km/h.
The SUV was tracked by Airwing, before the two men exited the vehicle and fled on foot along Harding Street, Thomastown, where they were soon arrested.
The alleged driver – a 20-year-old man from Mernda – was charged with seven offences, including theft of motor vehicle, forging of a registration plate, driving unlicensed, evading police, dangerous driving and handling stolen goods.
A 32-year-old male passenger from Mill Park was charged with possess methylamphetamine and other drugs of dependence and handling stolen goods.
Both were bailed to appear in Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on August 14.
Operation Trinity, which runs every single night until dawn is Victoria Police’s most well-resourced frontline policing operation at present.
There are 70 additional police rostered each night, on top of existing patrols.
