Two people have died after a horror crash on Camp Road, Broadmeadows.

The passenger of the car died at the scene, while the driver was given CPR by police and taken to hospital in critical condition, but died shortly after.

The vehicle was a white Hyundai wagon, and sustained significant damage, with debris spreading metres in all directions.

Major Crash Investigation Unit Detective Sergeant Daryll Out said the vehicle was seen throughout the night by police and that there is extreme concern with the car travelling so fast in built up areas.

“Shortly before 5.30am this morning it crashed at high speed again into an electricity pole,” he said.

“The vehicle was seen travelling sometime before the crash at speeds estimated to be in excess of 180km/h, and certainly when the crash happened, the speed was estimated to be well in excess of 100km/h.

“It is extremely unlikely anybody would survive in a car travelling in excess of 100km/h into a stationary object.”

The car was previously reported stolen from Moama in December, and two firearms were found inside.
