Two arrested after stolen vehicle driven recklessly in northern suburbs

A Whittlesea teenager is among two police arrested after police had to use stop sticks on an allegedly stolen vehicle in Melbourne’s north.

The red Ford Focus was allegedly stolen in an armed robbery in Collingwood on Saturday.

Patrolling police sighted the car on High Street in Northcote about 12.40am this morning.

The Air Wing was called in and followed the vehicle as it was driven through several suburbs.

One of the car’s tyres were deflated after it ran into a gutter while attempting to avoid stop sticks and ultimately detached from the vehicle.

The vehicle then came to a stop near the intersection of Craigieburn and Koukoura Road, Wollert.

A 42-year-old Mildura woman and 14-year-old girl from the Whittlesea area were arrested at the scene and will be interviewed on Monday.

Investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
