Truck driver charged following fatal Gorge Road crash

Police have charged a 41-year old Epping man with multiple driving offenses following a fatal crash in South Morang earlier this year.

On Sunday 21 November, detectives charged the man with culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death, careless driving and using a mobile phone while driving.

The truck driver was arrested at the scene on Gorge Road in February where it is alleged his truck collided with a Kia wagon causing the car to burst into flames.

Emergency services had responded at 9:30am on Tuesday 25 February , and attempted to save the 82-year-old Briar Hill woman, who died at the scene.

The man has been bailed and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 28 November.
