Tradie among drugs arrests

A licensed electrician and two other men have been arrested following police raids targeting a network of cannabis crop houses linked to organised crime across Melbourne.

Police executed search warrants at properties in Epping, Airport West, Hadfield and Coburg on Thursday 23 October, where the three men were arrested and interviewed by police.

A 41-year-old Epping man faces a string of drug-related offences, including trafficking commercial quantities of methylamphetamine and large commercial quantities of ecstasy and a 59-year-old Hadfield man has been charged with cultivating and trafficking commercial quantities of cannabis.

The two were remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday 24 October.

A 34-year-old Airport West man was charged with trafficking cannabis and cocaine, possessing prohibited weapons and dealing with proceeds of crime. He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 1 May 2026.

Police seized drugs, cash, prohibited weapons, chemicals, glassware and a pill press during the raids.

Investigators allege the men assisted organised crime syndicates by installing electrical bypasses to power large-scale cannabis crops.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit crimestoppers.com.au.
