A Mill Park father will spend six days hiking in the Himalayas to help children living in Nepal get an education.
Evan Giosis will be taking part in Trek Nepal next month, alongside 20 colleagues from Computershare.
The group is aiming to raise $143,000 for the World Youth International School in Nepal.
They will finish the trek through the Annapurna Mountain Range at the school, allowing them to see first-hand how their money will impact the lives of students.
Mr Giosis, who has been an avid hiker since he was eight years old, said he was taking part in the trek because he believed all children should have access to an education.
“I have been doing a few tough hikes in preparation. I’m not too worried about the trek itself. Having not visited many developing countries, I think the culture shock will be one of the biggest challenges for me,” he said.
“I want to do what I can to help World Youth International with their mission to bring these opportunities to the children of Nepal.”
World Youth International operations manager Terry Hoey said a large proportion of Nepal’s population lived below the poverty line.
“I have no doubt [Computershare’s] passion and generosity will make a difference in the lives of students at the World Youth International School, as well as their families.”
