Three Lalor residents charged in gang investigation

Police have charged three people from Lalor with various drug and firearm related offences as part of an ongoing investigation into organised crime.

Detectives from the gang crime squad charged all three with possessing and trafficking cocaine and further offences on Thursday 22 January.

A 28-year-old woman was charged with possessing cannabis, trafficking firearms, and possessing an unregistered handgun and longarm without a licence.

A 28-year-old man was charged with possessing an unregistered handgun and ammunition without a licence, and handling cash proceeds of crime.

A second 28-year-old woman was charged with possessing a handgun and cartridge ammunition without a licence.

The trio appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday afternoon.

The alleged offenders were arrested along with three others following search warrants across the northern suburbs on Wednesday 21 January .

Police seized items including three firearms, cocaine, ammunition, cash, vehicles, a detonator cord and almost 50 electronic items that will be forensically analysed.

A 42-year-old Airport West man, a 24-year-old man from Canberra and a 27-year-old NSW woman were all released pending further enquiries.

Police also charged two men from Sydney, aged 21 and 22, with various driving and firearm offences following a car chase that ended in Pascoe Vale on Tuesday January 20.
