A panel of three administrators has been appointed to Whittlesea council.

Premier Daniel Andrews, who is the acting Local Government Minister, today announced that interim administrator Lydia Wilson, Greyhound Racing Victoria chair Peita Duncan and former Dunkey MP Bruce Billson had been selected to replace Whittlesea’s sacked councillors.

Administrators carry out the role, responsibilities and functions of councillors as set out in the Local Government Act and the panel will undertake the role of the council.

The panel will be in place until the October 2024 council elections

Ms Wilson, who was appointed interim administrator in March following the sacking of Whittlesea’s councillors by the state government, will be chair of the panel.

Ms Wilson, who is the former chief executive of Manningham, Yarra and Macedon Ranges councils, said she was pleased the full panel had been appointed.

“I would like to thank the Premier for appointing the panel today. It is important for the community to have the panel of three administrators in place, and the organisation to have stability at the governance level of council for the next four years,” she said.

Ms Wilson said she was looking forward to working with Ms Duncan and Mr Billson.

Ms Duncan is also MFB board member, while Mr Billson is the director of a consultancy business and has held several senior executive positions in local government, including as acting chief executive of the Shire of Hastings.

The administrator appointments come into effect today and each panel member will be sworn into office next week.
