The new face of library love

Love is in the air, and for book lovers, there’s no better day to celebrate than Library Lovers’ Day on February 14.

This year, the event has a passionate new advocate – Cristopher Pizarro Gutierrez, the freshly appointed Yarra Plenty Regional Library ambassador of Library Love.

With his deep admiration for the written word and an undeniable charm, Cristopher is on a mission to remind us why libraries deserve to be cherished.

Cristopher is a book romantic, and his enthusiasm is infectious.

“The smell of possibility in every shelf, the excitement of holding a beautifully bound spine – it is intoxicating,” he says, his eyes lighting up as he describes his passion for libraries.

“They take me to places I could never imagine, let me have conversations with the best minds and bravest hearts, and dream such beautiful dreams.”

Born in Chile, Cristopher says he has felt the magic of libraries across the world.

“I have travelled far and had many, many loves – but my heart swells most at my library.”

For Cristopher, libraries are more than just collections of books. They are places of inclusion, learning, and inspiration.

“They do not judge me for my beauty and perfect physical form,” he quips with a knowing smile, “but welcome me with open arms, again and again.”

His message is clear: libraries give so much, and it’s time we give back. That starts with sharing the love.

“If you love your library, your library will love you,” he says..

Library Lovers’ Day is the perfect opportunity to show appreciation. Whether it’s becoming a member, borrowing a book, attending an event, or simply telling a friend about the wonders of the library, every act of support strengthens these vital community hubs.

So, this February 14, follow Christopher’s lead. Step inside your local library, breathe in the scent of adventure, and let yourself fall in love – again.
